Bikeweek breaky at Bentley

Staff from the South Metropolitan Health Service Population Health at Bentley got together recently to take part in the inaugural ride to work breakfast for Bikeweek 2015.

Health Promotion Officer Lisa Rooke organised the event and said Bikeweek is about encouraging more people to cycle to work.

“Most of us are new to cycling and have recently purchased vintage style ladies bikes or ‘lady bikes’ as we like to call them,” Lisa said.

“We’re still learning the rules of cycling and understanding the best cycling routes to work, but organising a ride to work breakfast provided us with an opportunity to get together as a group and build our confidence.”

The first event, which included a ‘pedal-powering’ breakfast at 7.30am, was attended by five enthusiastic cyclists, three of whom were new to two wheels.

Lisa is currently planning another ‘lady bike’ ride and hopes to encourage others to come along.
