Baby boom in the Maternity Unit

January 14, 2015

The Maternity Unit celebrated the arrival of more than 1000 babies in 2014, a milestone that set a new record at Bentley!

The 1000th baby, Heath George was delivered at 10.44am on Tuesday 16 December to proud parents Jessica and Levi, who were presented with a certificate and gift vouchers courtesy of the Bentley Auxiliary and Baby Bunting of Cannington.

Director of Nursing Mr Graeme Pascoe says that the record is testament to the hard work of the maternity team, and reflects the success of new services that are now available to the community.

“Surpassing 1000 births for the first time is very exciting for the Maternity Unit, and we are very proud of the number of deliveries we have had this year,” said Graeme.

The new record of 1,044 in a calendar year follows the delivery of more than 100 babies per month for August and October which was the first time in over 20-years that deliveries reached triple digits in a single month.
