Bringing new life to Bentley

August 15, 2014

The Maternity Unit welcomes more than 950 newborns into the world every year. Earlier this year, Dr Aseel Alkiaat Obstetrician and Gynaecologist joined the team on Ward 2, bringing a wealth of experience from around WA.

“Working as an obstetrician can be challenging, but it is a very satisfying role that I feel privileged to hold,” says Aseel.

“Bringing new life into the world and seeing the first breath of a child is a very rewarding experience.”

Working in obstetrics since 2005, Aseel has previously worked at King Edward Memorial, Osborne Park and Bunbury Regional Hospitals during a number of rotations.

“Having worked in regional and metropolitan Western Australia, I have been able to identify opportunities to improve maternity services here at Bentley, which include a public gynaecology service that is now available to the community,” said Aseel.

It is her passion for assisting expectant parents through the exciting, and often nervous journey of pregnancy and childbirth that has driven her throughout her career.

“Seeing the joy shared by new parents, grandparents and siblings as new baby enters the world is profoundly gratifying,” said Aseel.
