Visiting times

Easing of patient visiting guidelines

Visitor restrictions at all WA public hospitals are being eased from Tuesday 2 June.

The number of people permitted to visit will increase to two people at one time and children will also be able to visit patients in hospital.

Visiting hours for Bentley Hospital have also been extended from 10am to 7pm.

No visitors are permitted for patients who have:

  • tested positive to COVID-19, or
  • are waiting to be tested, or
  • are awaiting results.

If you are visiting an adult inpatient:

  • visiting hours are any time between 10am and 7pm, there is no limit on time for visitors.
  • maximum of two visitors for each patient at one time
  • children under 16 are permitted to visit

If you are visiting an outpatient patient

  • A primary care-giver or one adult only may accompany a patient to a hospital-based outpatient appointment (including day surgery).

These visiting restrictions may be reconsidered under exceptional or compassionate circumstances – please discuss with the hospital treating team.

Please remember to keep a safe distance between yourself and others and practice physical distancing at all times.

Hospital visits on compassionate or medical grounds

WA’s current travel restrictions are designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by limiting non-essential travel. This includes requiring approval to enter the State and a requirement to self-quarantine for 14 days – in case you are unknowingly carrying the COVID-19 virus.

If you are entering Western Australia under an exemption and have been granted permission on compassionate grounds to visit a patient in hospital within your quarantine period, you must phone the hospital on 9416 3666 to arrange this visit to ensure it is managed appropriately.

This process is necessary to ensure precautions are put in place to protect staff and patients while you attend the hospital.
