Clinical psychology

Clinical Psychology at Bentley Health Service (BHS) offers services to patients with severe difficulties, usually attracting a mental health diagnosis. Clinical Psychologists have specialised clinical training in the psychological assessment and treatment of people with cognitive, emotional and personality disorders.

Assessment, treatment and evaluation options are selected based on the condition and the individual requirements of patients.

Treatments are selected from a range of cognitive, behavioural and psychotherapeutic models and may be used individually or in combination with one another.

Typical approaches include:

  • cognitive behavioural therapy
  • systematic desensitisation
  • insight therapies
  • behavioural analysis
  • solution-focused therapy

The focus of clinical psychology services at BHS is on empowering the individual to effect and sustain ongoing change to increase the independence of a patient.

Please note that initial treatment may be in a group setting.
