East Metropolitan Youth Unit (EMyU)

The East Metropolitan Youth Unit (EMyU) is a 12 bed inpatient service which provides mental health inpatient care for young people aged 16 to 24 presenting with complex and acute mental health issues. The service has a focus on early episode interventions.

EMyU provides 24-hour, seven day a week inpatient assessment, treatment and community care planning by a multidisciplinary team for youth experiencing complex and severe mental health problems. This includes psychosis, depression, severe anxiety, post-traumatic stress, risk of self-harm or suicide and emerging personality disorder.

As a specialised tertiary acute psychiatric youth unit, admissions are only accepted by referral for consumers residing in the East Metropolitan Health Service catchment area. Consumers residing in other parts of WA may be admitted on a case-by-case basis. Please contact (08) 9416 3666 for more referral information.

Adult Mental Health Programs

The Bentley Health Community Mental Health Service provides access to adult outpatient mental health services including treatment, assessment and intervention.

The Bentley Health Community Mental Health Service offers the following services:

Services for adult patients aged 18 – 65 include:

  • Acute inpatient mental health services
  • rehabilitation services
  • community mental health services.

Services for older adult patients aged 65 and above include:

  • Inpatient mental health services
  • community care
  • hospital-based day therapy service.

In all areas, services are provided with a recovery focused multidisciplinary care coordination approach, working collaboratively with other specialities at BHS including medical, nursing, psychology, social work and occupational therapy to provide the best care possible.

Adult Community Mental Health Services

The Bentley Community Mental Health Service provides outpatient services for adults (aged 18+) with a wide range of psychiatric and psychological disorders. 

Assessment and Treatment Team (ATT)

The Assessment and Treatment team (ATT) is the first point of contact for all referrals to adult community mental health services within the Bentley catchment area.

The multi-disciplinary team includes psychiatrists, nurses and allied health staff who help to provide triage, assessment and short-term care coordination and treatment options for consumers up to a maximum of 10 weeks.

Active Recovery Team (ART)

The Active Recovery Team (ART) aims to provide an intensive, structured, consumer centred recovery plan for consumers with both mental health and Alcohol and other Drug concerns for up to a maximum of 12 weeks.

The multi-disciplinary team includes psychiatrists, nurses, allied health staff, alcohol and other drug counsellor and support worker from Holyoake and a peer support worker from the Mental Illness Fellowship of WA (MIFWA).  

Clinical Treatment Team (CTT)

The Clinical Treatment Team (CTT), also based at the Mills Street Clinic, receives all referrals via the ATT. This multi-disciplinary team, comprised of doctors, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and clinical psychologists, provides assessment and care coordination for consumers requiring care for more than 10 weeks.

ATT after-hours support times:

  • 4.30pm to 10pm (Monday to Friday)
  • 8am to 10pm (weekends and public holidays).
