Podiatry
The Royal Perth Bentley Group (RPBG) Podiatry Department provides clinical services to both inpatients and outpatients across Royal Perth and Bentley hospitals. It is a specialist unit aiming to deliver the best possible care for patients at high risk of lower limb complications, with weekly Multidisciplinary Foot Ulcer Clinics running within the department.
Our mission is to:
- reduce and prevent foot ulceration
- optimise wound healing and prevent infection
- minimise hospital admissions as well as facilitating suitable discharges and prevention of readmission
- prevent foot or lower limb amputation.
Outpatient Eligibility Criteria
- Live within the East Metropolitan Health Service catchment.
- Non-complex wound care.
- History of foot ulcerations and/or amputations.
- Chronic/Stable Charcot Neuroarthropathy.
- Complications of Peripheral Arterial Disease.
- Foot complications of chronic disease.
- Diabetes, Renal Disease, Severe Arthritic Disease, Neurological Deficit, Stroke, Immunosuppressive Disorders.
- Community Aids and Equipment Program (CAEP) (existing patients only).
How to refer
Please include the following in your referral:
- medical and medication history
- history of presenting complaint (duration, location, prior treatment)
- pedal pulses present/absent
- clinical signs of infection present/absent
- prior imaging, microbiology, blood work.
